Real Life Budgeting Example
I am creating a real life budgeting example, one that is applicable to living in a big city, in this case NYC, and with the average NYC college graduate first year salary. This is to show you a very specific budget for a college graduate student and how you should go about developing this budget.
Income used, $50,000 a year, which corresponds to $4,166.66/month (not including taxes).
Do not forget to start with your top 30 most important things that was discussed on the Budgeting page because that can really help determine what you want to spend money on and where you want to save.
I will also include specific dollar amounts for mandatory expenses like utilities, rent insurance, phone bills, and for when it is applicable, how much you should be spending for each.
The excel document below was created using a pre-made excel template for budgeting. I have created this example monthly budget with diagrams, transactions list and many other things to help show you the best way to develop and write up a budget.
