Mission Statement
Colleges, who are educating the brightest minds in our country in every subject and topic imaginable, are overlooking the one thing that is arguably the most important to teach their students, financial literacy. No one can be successful in about any field if you do not know how to handle your money properly. This is where Smarter Money comes in.
It’s purpose is to provide the basic information needed to prepare someone for financial independence in the quickest and most easily accessible way.
It’s purpose is to provide the basic information needed to prepare someone for financial independence in the quickest and most easily accessible way.
why is this important?
Financial literacy is the most important part of being financially successful. If you want to be financially successful, you MUST understand how to be financially independent.
who we are (who i am)
I am a senior at Barnard College and I created this website because financial literacy was an issue for me and the more I researched the problem and talked to my fellow classmates, the more I realized this is a much larger issue than I originally thought. So many brilliant minds are graduating from college and being thrown into the workforce without knowing the first thing about being financially independent. I wanted to create a website with all the information one needed to know to be prepared for financial independence and so I created Smarter Money. I hope that this is as helpful for you as it was for me!
things to know when navigating the website
I have divided it up into multiple categories. Starting with the most basic topics for which a rudimentary understanding is usually needed before being able to learn the others. The links at the end of the pages are handpicked from various websites for the specific category or topic being explained. They are from notable sources like Investopedia and NerdWallet. All chosen to provide you with information and more resources so that you are best able to understand these important topics. Any comments, concerns or questions are highly encouraged!
